Following are some stories submitted by participants in the February 2006 Family Worship Arts Retreat....
"I was challenged to get out of a creative rut in my church. I often lead worship and am tempted to keep it 'easy' by not thinking about ways to honor God with my own creativity. I re-committed to keep myself form just doing the "same old thing" and really worshipping God instead."
~Keanan
"I was unsure whether worshiping through arts was something I would really be able to do. I'm not a terribly 'artsy' person. I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience at the Shechem conference. Not only did enjoy the photography track as an educational experience, but I found myself worshipping God as the camera forced me to focus on the glory of his creation. I saw things through the camera lens that I would never otherwise have noticed. In one instance, while looking for a focal point for a picture of the beach, I noticed a lovely shell unlike any I had seen. I knelt to take a picture of it, then stood up and suddenly noticed that the beach was practically covered with shells just like it – that I had never noticed. Through the whole experience I found my heart praising God for the intricacy, uniqueness, and beauty of the world he has given us to live in. I have read that worship is any act through which you show affection and reverence for God, and the Shechem conference gave me a more meaningful way of doing that than anything I have experienced in a long time."

"My 4 year old absolutely LOVES the Newsboys’ song, 'I Am Free.' She sang it incessantly for several
days following the conference and every time it comes on the radio, she cranks up the volume and
sings at the top of her lungs! I asked her today who the song was talking about and she said,
'God.' (Sort of like, 'Duh, Mom!') So, the family worship time made an impression. If that got through, I bet a bunch of the other
seeds planted got into those little hearts too!!"

So love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.
